Sally O’Borsky, Quota International of Minneapolis, MN
Quota International of Minneapolis, MN
When Sally O’Borsky joined QI of Minneapolis in 2001, her early years were characterized by contemplation and determination.
“In the beginning,” says Sally, “it was selfish, a night out without kids or cooking and a nice way to spend more time with friends and nice people. Now it has become so much more. I still get the night out, but I also see all of the good work we do and service we provide to those less fortunate than ourselves.”
After attending meetings and observing the dynamics of the club, Sally considered how she could put her own talents and interests to best use and rose to leadership.
Elected to the board of directors in 2003, Sally chaired the Membership Committee and launched a proactive, imaginative strategy to recruit new members: She produced stunning new membership materials-brochures, signage, and membership invitations (clever ribbon-tied scrolls)-that were featured at events such as the club’s annual luncheon/style shows, where Sally and her family walked the runway as popular models!
In 2004, Sally became chair of the Program Committee, bringing in speakers and programs (including puppeteers and a “helping paws” dog) that have touched the hearts of our service-goal oriented club members.
Sally also knows how to have fun and how to throw a grand party. She served on the planning committee for the “Fun in the Sun” Mexican-themed Quota 75th Birthday Party, which raised membership, money, and many a margarita glass! Four new members have joined so far, and there are three or four hot prospects we expect will soon make their decisions: “I envision a nice blend of experience, wisdom and mentoring, with some youth, new energy and fresh ideas,” said Sally.
Sally is an exercise/fitness buff and has competed triathlons, including this year’s Grandma’s Marathon. She also enjoys reading and scrap booking. Three years ago Sally and husband Mike moved from the Twin City area to Buffalo, Minnesota. Sally and Mike have three children: Dylan (6), Erica (3) and Zack (18 months). The family enjoys outdoor activities-fishing, skiing, and camping and is active in the Home and School Association (PTA), Boy Scouts, and youth sports programs in the community.
Sally, you are a true gem! Your Quota sisters love you and want you to know that you are Quota International of Minneapolis’ unanimous choice for 2005 Volunteer of the Year!
