Margie Hughes, Quota International of Kirksville, MO
Quota International of Kirksville, MO
Margie Hughes moved to Kirksville, Missouri, and became a member of Quota International of Kirksville just a couple years ago—but in that short amount of time, Margie has managed to jump in with both feet!
Margie is always willing to help any way she can. She is presently vice president of the club and chairwoman of the Membership Committee and has also served as publicity chair and recording secretary. This past year QI of Kirksville hosted the District 7 Conference, and Margie contributed many hours to make the event successful: she assisted the Decoration Committee with the plans for the conference, took photographs during the conference, and put together a photo collage for conference attendees to enjoy each morning. During the past year, Margie was also instrumental in getting Quota in the public eye, as she forwarded photographs of the conference on to the local newspaper so they could print news releases about new club members, presentations, and other special events.
Margie not only supports Quota but is also involved in various volunteer projects. Margie devotes time to the Kirksville’s Chamber of Commerce Leadership Team, organizes demonstrators for the Red Barn Arts Festival, is on the Board of the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP) and also assists with their annual recognition banquet for seniors.
Margie Hughes was born in Youngstown, Ohio. She attended a Catholic grade school and graduated from Girard Ohio Public High School. Margie received an undergraduate degree in Law Enforcement Administration from Youngstown State University and a Masters degree from Wichita State University.
While attending Wichita State Margie met her husband Jim. After graduation, they moved to Boulder, Colorado, and Margie fulfilled her lifelong passion for law enforcement by working as a police officer. Margie, who has worked as a Correction’s Specialist for a Sheriff’s department and served as a Bond Commissioner, currently teaches at Truman State University. Her husband Jim is the Police Chief for the City of Kirksville and they have one daughter, Kristin, who currently resides in Colorado. Margie, a member of Sojourners, attends Trinity Episcopal Church.
