Kathleen Braithwaite, Quota International of Murgdon, QLD
Quota International of Murgdon, QLD
Kathleen Braithwaite is a charter member of QI of Murgdon. During her 21-year membership, Kath, as she is known, has held the positions of president, secretary, treasurer and board member. For the past 15 years, she has held the position of chairman of Community Service. During each month, without fail, she visits the patients of our local hospital. She has also been responsible for the delivery of our Care Bears to the Doctors Surgery and Ambulance Centre for children in trauma.
During each and every meeting, Kath takes her own notes, so if there is a discrepancy, she is the member who we turn to for details. Kath always knows. Even though Kath is over 80 years of age, she is always one of the first of the members to put up her hand to help with any fund-raising activities. When we have a lamington drive, Kath can turn a slab of cake into lamingtons in the wink of an eye. She is a very dedicated member and the backbone of our club.
Kathleen Braithwaite (nee Cobb) was born in Murgon over 80 years ago. Kath spent her childhood years on the family farm at Cobbs Hill, attended school at Sunnynook near Murgon, and later attended Summerville House for Girls in Brisbane. Kath married Charles Braithwaite in 1946 and they eventually settled on a farm in Murgon where they raised four sons. With the passing of Charles in 1994, Kath is still residing in the family home.
Kath is currently president of the Church of England’s Mothers Union to which she has belonged for 33 years. During this time she has held the position of treasurer for many years. She is also church organist and her name has always been on the cleaning roster. Kath has been very involved in the local Show Society for the past 25 years where, as well as exhibiting in various sections, she works tirelessly in the luncheon booth.
Kath is a devoted mother and grandmother and a very conscientious person who will assist anyone in need and is always a true friend.
