Patricia Jones

Quota International of Cambridge, MD

When Pat Jones was interviewed as a prospective Quotarian, she listed that she liked to sell tickets, preferred hands-on service, would chair a committee, and would consider being a club officer. Since joining Quota in 2000, Pat has fulfilled all of those challenges and more. Elected club treasurer in 2001, Pat’s service in that capacity over the past two years has brought a useful, accountable system to the club’s complex finances. Since Pat spent most of her working life in banking, she proved to be a natural for the job. This year, in addition to her duties as treasurer, she has been intimately involved with club publicity as committee co-chair. For the annual Derby Day fund-raiser, Pat coordinated reservations, entrée choices, seating, and assisted with the raffle and welcoming of 241 guests. Pat is a valued member of her club, and her regular attendance and accurate, comprehensive reporting are significant contributions. To improve communication at club meetings, Pat purchased and hauled to each meeting a speaker system. Quota has also benefited from Pat’s part-time position with the Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce, where she is able to promote community awareness of Quota service. Keeping up a Quota tradition, Pat also shops for needy families and transports gifts at Christmastime. In June of 2002, Pat and her husband “Buzz” hosted the club’s annual summer picnic at their lovely riverside home. Outside of Quota, Pat finds time to volunteer for church organizations and Relay for Life activities, and she showers her family, which also includes three adult children and six grandchildren, with her love of life. In her “spare time,” she likes to garden, sew, read, and travel. Pat’s passion to serve is suitably described by her club as ubiquitous—she is everywhere doing good deeds, and she is appropriately honored as Quota International of Cambridge Volunteer of the Year. Her club says, “Congratulations, Pat Jones.”
