Chris Lorenz

Quota International of Waterloo, IA

Chris Lorenz has held all offices in Quota International of Waterloo: secretary, treasurer, president (twice), and District 7 governor. She has been active on committees, particularly Hearing and Speech, Ways and Means, and Recruitment committees. Chris is always a top seller of nuts during each fall campaign and was crucial in a record-setting year for sales in 2002-2003. As co-chair of the Spring Brunch fund-raiser, Chris was able to take the event to new heights. She found the perfect venue and organized work groups, food purchases, food preparation, serving techniques, decorations, volunteers, prizes, and cleanup. With her usual good humor and graciousness, Chris helped create an enjoyable brunch for over 500 people that also brought in a better-than-ever profit. When the Waterloo club decided to start a new Quota Cares Bears service project, Chris led the way in getting it up and running. The project provides bears to kids in the hospital who often need a cuddly friend for reassurance. Chris also finds time to serve on the executive board of the Waterloo YWCA and to assist elderly friends in nursing and retirement homes. Often, Chris picks up elderly Quota members who need a ride to meetings or functions. A teacher who was recognized for excellent teaching and commitment to her students, Chris retired two years ago. Her teaching, however, continues as she inspires those around her to be gracious, kind, and committed to service, because that is the example she sets.
