Patti Schaap

Quota International of Traverse City, MI

Patti Schaap is a dynamo who has really put the “Q” in Quota when it comes to educating the members of the Traverse City Club. She has served at the district level for many years, and is a former governor of District 20. The motto of Quota is “we share,” and Patti has the most sharing nature when it comes to Quota and helping the people of her community. A number of years ago, Patti initiated the idea of Quota Cares Bears in Traverse City. Single-handedly, she visited hospitals and sold them on the idea of giving the stuffed bears to children in emergency care or traumatic situations. The idea has spread to ambulances and other local counties and even to other Quota clubs around the district. In addition to her work with Quota, Patti has served for 20 years as the director for the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City. She has also been an advocate for people with special needs and, in 2001, was named “Guardian of the Year” by Tendercare Nursing Facility. It is difficult to estimate the value of Patti Schaap to Quota, and she most certainly is a model for all Quotarians to emulate.
