Lydia Thompson

Quota International of Wooster, OH

Lydia Thompson knows what it is to be a volunteer, as her plate is always full. She was a leader, spending countless hours in the PTA as her six children progressed through school, and she continues to volunteer weekly to read with children. Lydia spent 12 years on the Wooster City School Board of Education and was on the YMCA board of directors for six years. Other volunteer efforts include United Way, Hospital Health Board, Cancer Board, and the Wayne County Area Agency on Aging Committee. Currently, she is on the Lakeside Day Care Board (for senior adults). For her outstanding commitment to human welfare, in 1984, Lydia received the John Wallace Humanitarian Award, and, in 1992, received the Daily Record Citizen of the Year Award. She has been active with CROP, is a charter member of the Wooster High School Alumni & Friends Association, and is currently the choir director at her church and president of the Women’s Auxiliary Akron Sub District to Northern Ohio Baptist Association. As an “actress,” for several years Lydia has portrayed famous African-American women for audiences of students and adults. Active in Quota since 1975, Lydia has served on numerous committees and is always willing to help. Her life truly reflects the Quota Objects.
