Jean Appleby

Quota International of Waterloo, IA

Humble dedication to service and a genuine love for those she serves have been the cornerstones for Jean Appleby’s professional and philanthropic pursuits. She is a leader in the Partners in Education alliance with St. John’s and St. Nicholas’ Catholic schools. In this capacity, she has served as a tutor; read to classes; organized a clothing drive for needy children; promoted the saving of grocery receipts/labels to benefit the schools; participated in recognition/appreciation programs for teachers and students; and helped improve a school library, among other things. Within the Waterloo Quota club, Jean has served as president, secretary, and treasurer. She has also served on conference and service committees, including the children’s eyeglass, hearing and speech, and battered women’s shelter committees, always getting the job done well. She carries her weight in the annual spring benefit and can be counted on to bag and sell her share of nuts in the annual fall nut sales. Jean works hard without thought for personal recognition, always encouraging participation by others.
