Virginia Thornton

Quota International of Sterling, CO

Virginia Thornton has been a dedicated, hard-working Quotarian for over 45 years. In that time she has held every executive club office, as well as serving as District 9 Governor, and, for two terms, as District Secretary-Treasurer. In addition to serving her club, Virginia has other talents that her community has discovered. As the “token” woman member of the University Alumni Group, Virginia was key in gaining a name change for Colorado State College to the University of Northern Colorado, thereby greatly increasing state funding for the school. In addition she was a member of the committee responsible for the construction of the Sterling Regional MedCenter, the largest hospital in a 100-mile radius in northeastern Colorado. Because of her involvement as a board member, and the over 7,500 hours of service to the hospital auxiliary, the auditorium at the Northeast Colorado Health Department has been named the Virginia Thornton Auditorium. Virginia is also quite active in her church.
