You most likely won’t find a more experienced woman than Laurel Macintosh of Brisbane City. Even during her days as a practicing ophthalmic surgeon, Laurel gave willingly of her time and expertise. Named an Officer of the order of the British Empire, as well as Dame of the Military Hospitaller order of St. Lazarus, Laurel is known in her club, community, and province as a hard working volunteer. In Quota she has held the position of club president, secretary, and various other board positions since she joined in 1957. Working for the betterment of women, Laurel has worked on the National Council of Women of Queensland, National Council of Women of Australia, and the International Council of Women. Laurel has had a full life of volunteering, and by no means is she stopping there. She continues to play an active and important role in her club.
