2014 Quota Cares Month Winners

Six Quota clubs were selected as Top Winners in the 2014 Quota’s Cares Month contest. Their projects were considered outstanding for service, outreach, fundraising, and publicity. These clubs stand as an example of the caring and sharing that is Quota’s mission throughout the world.

TOP WINNERS

QI of Tanana Valley, Alaska, USA – The 27 members of Quota International of Tanana Valley, Alaska, USA raised over $17 thousand at a benefit event for Devin, a young boy with a rare nervous system disorder. This generous donation helped Devin’s family purchase a van to accommodate Devin’s wheelchair.  Congratulations to the members of QI of Tanana Valley who have been serving neighbors in their community since 2011.

QI of Beckley, West Virginia, USA – Inviting their entire community to participate in the Empty Bowls project to raise awareness for world hunger, 28 members of Quota International of Beckley, West Virginia, USA collected over $10 thousand to donate to local food pantries.  Hats off to QI of Beckley Quotarians who have given aid to disadvantaged women and children in their community since 1963.

QI of Gridley, California, USA – Quota International of Gridley, California, USA has been serving women in their community since 1936. This year the 56 members of QI of Gridley hosted a “New Start with Quota Day” luncheon for women who have fallen out of the workforce. Six women received complete makeovers along with professional photos for their resumes. The guests of honor left the lunch carrying new purses, and a new sense of confidence thanks to Quota International of Gridley.

QI of Cambridge, Maryland, USA – Since 1968 Quota International of Cambridge, Maryland, USA has volunteered to serve women and children in their community. For Quota Cares Month this year QI of Cambridge remodeled and furnished a room for a children’s after school program. In addition to donating materials, books and games for 25 kids enrolled in the program, at the ribbon cutting ceremony, the club’s 39 members also presented a check for $4,500 to continue the program so the children have a safe place to learn and play after school.  Thank you to QI of Cambridge Quotarians for giving children access to the resources they need to learn and grow.

QI of Manila South, Metro Manila, Philippines – After an earthquake severely damaged the Central Cortes Elementary School, 30 members of Quota International of Manila South, Philippines funded a rehabilitation project to rebuild the school. In two months’ time students and teachers were back in their classrooms because of the care and efforts of QI of Manila South. A job well done by the members of QI of Manila South who have been serving their community since 1993.

QI of Narooma, New South Wales, Australia – Quota International of Narooma in New South Wales, Australia, has offered assistance to children in their community since 1987. This year QI of Narooma Quotarians decided to sponsor a speech therapy project for children. The club’s 18 members provided funding for a speech pathologist who offers individualized learning programs to each student depending on his or her needs. Thank you members of QI of Narooma for giving voices to the children in your community.
