2010 Quota Cares Month Winners

Quota International of Boonah

Honorable Mention Winner

They have only six members—but what a day Quota International of Boonah presented to the community! The Anglican Church Hall in the center of town provided the setting for the Quota Cares Month Expo, an opportunity for the club to show the community of Boonah the many ways it serves. Visitors learned of the work the club does with the Hear & Say Centre, other projects for the deaf and hearing impaired, and the group’s service to the aged community and disadvantaged women and children. The Expo also highlighted Quota’s world service with a display of Quota Club-to-Club World Service Projects, complete with a large map and national costumes to enliven the information.

Items sold and shown throughout the Expo combined feeling good with doing good. A delicious trading table was set up, selling homemade cakes, pickles, jams, and other goodies. A White Elephant stall and craft table provided diversion. A Community Service area showcased the winter knits, knee rugs, beanies, and other warm items given each year to the elderly. Photo albums showed Quota’s long history of giving, posters told the story of recent activities, and guests were able to see some of the trauma toys donated to the Police, Ambulance and Fire Brigade. Other kiosks featured the Hear & Say program and the Vial of Life. Everywhere they turned, the attendees saw proof of Quota’s service and caring.

It was a busy day for these six energetic Quotarians, but they accomplished the aim of any expo—to shine a spotlight on something worthwhile.
