Quota International of Orange
Orange City Quotarians are in fashion…Roaring Twenties style. In celebration of Quota Cares Month and International Women’s Day, Quota International of Orange held its third annual fashion show with a Roaring Twenties theme in black and white.
A crowd of 160 people attended the spectacular event held on March 10, 2009, at the Orange City Bowling Club. Guests were greeted at the door by two sparkling, bejeweled mannequins draped in black and white, and, of course, by Quotarians—all in the fashions of the day. Many of the guests also arrived in twenties garb, and prizes for the best-dressed were awarded at the end of the evening.
The music, table settings, and food were all designed to convey the elegance of the times. The program featured a display of exquisite dresses and accessories from 1900 to 1929, and amusing stories and historical facts about the garments kept the audience entertained for the entire evening.
Ticket and raffle proceeds from the fashion show allowed Orange City Quotarians to raise more than $3,500 for the Orange and District Early Education Program (ODEEP), which provides support and early intervention to children and families experiencing developmental delays and disabilities. ODEEP will use the money to implement the Picture Exchange Communication System for children with speech defects.
The fashion show was heavily promoted by local newspapers and television stations and increased awareness of the Quota club in the community at large. The event also gave Quotarians a forum for educating guests about the club’s mission and fund-raising activities. Quotarians believe that events like the Roaring Twenties Fashion Show will keep Quota club membership in fashion for a long time to come.
