2009 Quota Cares Month Winners

Quota International of Gridley

Top Winner

Stick horse barrel racing, roping, horseshoeing and grooming, horse riding, a petting zoo, singing fiddlers, and a chuck wagon full of good eats…these fun-filled and tasty attractions were all part of a “Quota Cares Day the Cowboy Way.” Quota International of Gridley, California, hosted the event to benefit Max’s Miracles and the Miracle Ranch Foundation, organizations that help kids suffering from heart and cancer related issues.

It proved to be a very special day indeed for many well-deserving young buckaroos, their sidekicks, and families—a day that was far away from the surgeries, doctor appointments, and medications that are “business as usual” for these kids. They not only went home with many fond memories of their cowboy experiences, but also some tangible souvenirs, including a Stetson cowboy hat, lasso rope, kerchief, and a photo of their horse ride.

Dozens of Quota club members and volunteers pitched in to plan, stage, and run the event, which was held at the Wheeler Ranch Arena in Biggs, California, on March 28, 2009. Two of the volunteers were so impressed with the event and Quota’s mission that they joined the club. Information on the club, as well as the Quota calendar, cookbook, and earplugs, were also made available to each person who stopped by the Quota information table.

“Quota Cares Day the Cowboy Way” also received heavy support from the local media and leaders, including newspaper articles before and after the event, opening speeches by the mayors of both Gridley and Biggs, and coverage of the event by two television stations on their 6 and 11 o’clock news programs. Yippee Kai Yay! Now that’s the Quota way.
