2007 Quota Cares Month Winners

Quota International of Kenosha-Racine

Quota Cares Month—Honorable Mention Winner

The Quotarians of Kenosha-Racine have been “Having Fun and Getting Things Done” for 60 years now, and that’s why the current club members used this theme for their various Quota Cares Month projects this year.

A great deal of time in March was spent making heart-shaped pillows to make seatbelts more comfortable for patients recovering from heart surgery as well as the mastectomies, lumpectomies, and reconstructive surgeries used in the treatment of breast cancer. The pillows were distributed to local hospitals at the end of April, to coincide with the club’s official anniversary.

Kenosha-Racine Quotarians also organized book donations and sorting for Kenosha’s Cops ‘n’ Kids program, a now ten-year-old program designed to promote youth literacy and effective communication between police and the community. Each donated book was stamped with Quota’s name and sent out for use with students of all ages—those learning how to read to those preparing for college.

The capstone of Quota Cares Month for the club members was their anniversary celebration and fund-raiser. The Sock Hop was advertised throughout the community, and special invitations were given to former and future Quotarians, who all came together to mark this historic occasion. The evening’s event included presentations on the history and current projects of the club. Two members were installed at the celebration, and three more are expected to become official Quota club members in the near future.

With 100 percent participation in these events, the Quotarians of Kenosha-Racine did have fun and get things done, but they also combined service with fellowship to continue a 60-year tradition of living the Quota mission.
