Lorraine Habib and Jackie Ulbin

Quota International of Lawrence, MA

Lorraine Habib and Jackie Ulbin, biological sisters, embody the true spirit of volunteerism that makes our community and world better. Our criteria for nominating both Lorraine and Jackie is that they “come as a pair,” always exhibiting their combined efforts in both family affairs and Quota-related achievements. Lorraine Habib is a retired banker who has been a member of Quota since 1997. As assistant marketing director at Andover Bank, she worked on creating and promoting community projects. Lorraine also volunteered nine years as an activities director at a privately owned campground. Jackie Ulbin works as a travel consultant and has been a Quota member since 1994. She has volunteered as a companion to clients with Alzheimer’s. Both sisters have worked at Lazarus House, a community homeless shelter in Lawrence, serving dinner to adults and children. At Christmas, Lorraine and Jackie set up a Wish Tree where people can choose a name and donate an article from a person’s wish list. They have also held almost all offices in the Lawrence Quota club and cheerfully tackle fund-raising projects! Lorraine and Jackie also volunteer their homes where members make “gift bags” to donate to 300 disadvantaged children and retirement home residents. This spring, the sisters, serving as co-vice presidents, worked tirelessly organizing a celebrity fashion show that netted Quota $8,000! Lorraine Habib and Jackie Ulbin are appreciated by club members for their leadership on the Ways and Means Committee and for their many contributions to Quota and their community.
