Bobbie Dickerson, Quota International of Kent Valley, WA

Bobbie Dickerson,

Quota International of Kent Valley, WA

Bobbie Dickerson has been a giver all of her life. She dedicates countless hours to caring for her large family. She has been there for them through their ups and downs, and she has devoted the past 22 years to caring for her husband, who requires around-the-clock attention. Even though she has many family demands, Bobbie has managed to volunteer extensively in her community. She worked with the Renton Police Department drug prevention program. She mentored kids with drug problems and housed two children who were homeless. These children were given a loving home in which they were able to finish school. Bobbie was a member of the Kent Chamber of Commerce while she was a business owner in Kent. She volunteered many hours at their annual dinner auctions and other fund-raisers. Bobbie is an accomplished artist, and her artistic abilities were a great asset to the many events where she was responsible for decorations. Through her association with the Kent Chamber of Commerce, Bobbie became involved at Children’s Therapy Center of Kent, a nonprofit organization providing therapy and education to children with disabilities. She has logged over 1,000 hours per year in volunteer work at the center over the past 10 years. She helps with their annual fund-raising auction: decorating, procuring items, and painting pictures for the auction as well as assisting at the event. She is always ready to help with anything, from the annual picnic to making items needed in the education classrooms. In 1999, Bobbie answered an ad in the local paper for a cook to donate their time cooking for the homeless. They are very lucky that Bobbie is now the chief cook as well as chairman of the board of the Kent homeless shelter. She prepares gourmet meals for 150 to 200 homeless persons every Monday of the year. She loves the work and looks forward to it each week. At Christmas, she provides a special holiday meal and makes over 300 filled holiday stockings to be given out to these needy Kent families. The members of Quota International of Kent Valley felt very fortunate when Bobbie joined their club in 2000. She has been an extremely active member since that time. She has served as auction chairperson, secretary, vice president, and now she is president. Club members are very proud of Bobbie and all the volunteer work she has done and continues to do. She is an inspiration to all.
