Global Youth Service Network
Quota’s We Share Foundation has joined a coalition of local, state, national, and global organizations committed to engaging children and youth to solve problems and lead communities through volunteering, community service, service-learning, national service, and civic engagement—the Global Youth Service Network.
The We Share Foundation is committed to increasing the number and diversity of young people engaged in service in order to improve themselves and their communities in substantive ways. The We Share Foundation gives Quota members access to the resources, programs, and grants of the Global Youth Service Network and its sponsoring organization, Youth Service America (YSA).
All Quota clubs and JQ (Junior Quota) clubs are encouraged to take advantage of and participate in:
YSA Grants—Each year YSA gives over $1 million in grants, and Quota clubs and JQ clubs around the world can obtain those funds for their service projects led by youth and youth service-learning initiatives. To see what grants are available now for your Quota club’s youth projects, visit www.ysa.org/grants. You may also sign up to receive future grant announcements and updates on this page.
Global Youth Service Day—an annual campaign that celebrates and mobilizes the millions of children and youth who improve their communities each day of the year through service and service learning. Established globally in 2000, Global Youth Service Day is the largest service event in the world and the only day of service dedicated to children and youth. GYSD is celebrated each year in over 100 countries. www.GYSD.org
Semester of Service—an extended service-learning program linking prominent national service events (including Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, Global Youth Service Day, and September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance). Students plan and implement a semester-long service learning project of at least 70 hours. www.YSA.org/semester
YSA Resources—a variety of educational and planning guides and promotional tools to help develop youth service initiatives. Includes issue-based resources of interest to youth: 55 Environmental Service-Learning Projects; Addressing Childhood Obesity through Service-Learning; Effective Practices for Engaging At-Risk Youth in Service; etc. www.YSA.org/resources
