Convention 2003 ‘Taking Action’ Volunteer Training Program

Program Overview
Taking Action is the theme of this year's convention volunteer training program. Six different workshops (55-minutes each) are planned in three different tracks. Come and learn how you can help your club shine, build new skills, or invest in Quota's "international" success. We have a session for every Quota interest.

Choose Two!
Select the two workshop topics that interest you most. You do not need to register for the workshops beforehand. The cost of participation is included in your registration fee. Attend both sessions within a particular track or pick and choose sessions from two different tracks. The choice is yours! Track 1 is recommended for new club leaders.

When
Date: Monday, July 21, 2003
Session 1 in each track: 3:00-3:55 p.m.
Session 2 in each track: 4:05-5:00 p.m.

TRACK 1: Power up Your Club's Performance
(Waterbury Ballroom)
Help YOUR CLUB Shine

Session 1: Transform Your Club through Service

  • Facilitator: Carolyn Rice, South Pacific Area Director

  • Panelists: Winners of and selected participants from the We Share Foundation's 2003 Quota Cares Month Competition

  • Workshop Description: A great service project is the fast track to helping new club members feel a part of your club's family, and it is a sustainer of a vital, energetic club. Learn how a great service project CAN energize your club's membership, fellowship, and fund raising from selected Quota Cares Month winners and selected participants. Are you a new club president who wants to leave a legacy? Then this workshop is for you! Receive a free copy of Quota International's hot-off-the-press 2004 Quota Cares Month Planning Kit, which contains directions on how you, too, can transform your club through service. Plus receive copies of all winning 2003 Quota Cares Month applications.

Session 2: Member Marketing 101—Recruitment Tips for Every Size Club

  • Facilitator: Enid Croes-Marugg, South Area Director

  • Panelists: Vicki Conable, President, QI of Santa Maria, California, U.S.A.; Sue Ann Dier, Past Board Member and member, QI of Amherst, New York, U.S.A.; Elizabeth Rush, President, QI of Alliance, Ohio, U.S.A.; Ann Keating-Morrison, President, QI of Collingwood; Ontario, Canada

  • Workshop Description: Come listen and learn valuable recruitment lessons from three clubs whose recruitment commitment has paid off with success these past two years. Hear from a small, medium, and large club on the nuts and bolts of their recruitment approaches and plans, and how they connected new members to their clubs from the start. Receive a FREE copy of Quota International's Partners Program, which demonstrates how to help your recruits plan strong Quota roots from the start.

TRACK 2: Build Sensational Skills (Grand Ballroom D)
Enhance YOUR Quota success

Session 1: Making the Ask

  • Presenters: Susan Schneberger, Central Area Director, and Charlotte Schamadan, Past International President

  • Workshop Description: When raising funds for specific services, "making the ask" is the hardest part for most people. This lively and entertaining workshop provides tips that will help you be successful whether you are selling tickets for an event or purchasing a hundred hearing aids. Come and learn the fund-raising ropes from two of Quota's most successful and persuasive fund-raisers!

Session 2: Use the News

  • Presenters: Daryl Perrine, District 6 Past Governor and Debbie Spano, QI of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, U.S.A.

  • Workshop Description: A key element in member recruitment and retention is getting out the word that your club is an organization of people who care AND who take action. Your club needs attention to attract new members, to reward current members with recognition that keeps them coming back, to boost morale, and to build a stronger club for the future. Learn how to expand your club's local visibility—from creating press releases, writing letters to the editor and Public Service Announcements, holding a news conference, and more. Receive a free copy of the We Share Foundation's Publicity Pointers Public Relations Kit.
