2003 Taking Action Volunteer Training Program
Program
Overview
Taking Action is the theme of this year's convention volunteer training program.
Six different workshops (55-minutes each) are planned in three different tracks.
Come and learn how you can help your club shine, build new skills, or invest
in Quota's "international" success. We have a session for every
Quota interest.
Choose
Two!
Select the two workshop topics that interest you most. You do not need to
register for the workshops beforehand. The cost of participation is included
in your registration fee. Attend both sessions within a particular track or
pick and choose sessions from two different tracks. The choice is yours! Track
1 is recommended for new club leaders.

1: Power up Your Club's Performance

Help YOUR CLUB Shine
Session 1: Transform Your Club through Service
- Facilitator: Carolyn Rice, South Pacific Area Director
- Panelists: Winners of and selected participants from the We Share
Foundation's 2003 Quota Cares Month Competition
- Workshop Description: A great service project is the fast
track to helping new club members feel a part of your club's family,
and it is a sustainer of a vital, energetic club. Learn how a great
service project CAN energize your club's membership, fellowship, and
fund raising from selected Quota Cares Month winners and selected
participants. Are you a new club president who wants to leave a legacy?
Then this workshop is for you! Receive a free copy of Quota International's
hot-off-the-press 2004 Quota Cares Month Planning Kit,
which contains directions on how you, too, can transform your club
through service. Plus receive copies of all winning 2003 Quota Cares
Month applications.
Session 2: Member Marketing 101Recruitment Tips for Every Size
Club
- Facilitator: Enid Croes-Marugg, South Area Director
- Panelists: Vicki Conable, President, QI of Santa Maria, California,
U.S.A.; Sue Ann Dier, Past Board Member and member, QI of Amherst, New
York, U.S.A.; Elizabeth Rush, President, QI of Alliance, Ohio, U.S.A.;
Ann Keating-Morrison, President, QI of Collingwood; Ontario, Canada
- Workshop Description: Come listen and learn valuable recruitment
lessons from three clubs whose recruitment commitment has paid off
with success these past two years. Hear from a small, medium, and
large club on the nuts and bolts of their recruitment approaches and
plans, and how they connected new members to their clubs from the

strong Quota roots from the start.

2: Build Sensational Skills (Grand Ballroom D)
Enhance YOUR Quota success
Session 1: Making the Ask
- Presenters: Susan Schneberger, Central Area Director, and Charlotte
Schamadan, Past International President
- Workshop Description: When raising funds for specific services,
"making the ask" is the hardest part for most people. This lively
and entertaining workshop provides tips that will help you be successful
whether you are selling tickets for an event or purchasing a hundred hearing
aids. Come and learn the fund-raising ropes from two of Quota's most successful
and persuasive fund-raisers!
Session 2: Use the News
- Presenters: Daryl Perrine, District 6 Past Governor and Debbie
Spano, QI of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, U.S.A.
- Workshop Description: A key element in member recruitment
and retention is getting out the word that your club is an organization
of people who care AND who take action. Your club needs attention
to attract new members, to reward current members with recognition
that keeps them coming back, to boost morale, and to build a stronger
club for the future. Learn how to expand your club's local visibilityfrom
creating press releases, writing letters to the editor and Public
Service Announcements, holding a news conference, and more. Receive

3: Broaden Your Quota Horizons

Session 1: Top Secrets of Successful New Club Organizers
- Facilitator: Mary Helen Stanley, Chair, CEO Committee
- Panelists: Marian Fetchik, Past Governor; Daryl Perrine, Past
Governor; and a third panelist to be confirmed
- Workshop Description: Is organizing a new club on your Quota
'To-Do' list this year? Join some of Quota's top new club organizers
for a lively session filled with helpful tips, suggestions, and guidelines
for expanding Quota's presence. Quota's new club organization team
is ready to help you every step of the way, and recent organizers
will share their success secrets! All participants will receive Quota
International's New Club Organization Kit.
Session 2: Explore Quota's Finances and Give Us Your Input
- Presenters: Nicôl Lea, Treasurer, and Kathleen Treiber,
Executive Director
- Workshop Description: Are you interested in Quota's finances?
Do you have specific questions about the 2003 Treasurer's Report? Do you
have suggestions on ways to improve Quota's financial reporting system?
Would you like more information about how Quota funds its programs and
operations? Then this session is for you! This session is devoted to Q&A
with Quota's Treasurer and Executive Director AND discussion seeking YOUR
feedback on how we can improve our reporting system. Come share your ideas
and receive informative financial handouts.
