Convention Entertainment

From flip flops to dancing shoes with a fiesta in between…there is no shortage of fun planned for convention’s special events!

Opening Ceremonies

At convention’s California Dreamin’ Opening Ceremonies, Friday, July 11, 5:30-6:30 p.m., attire is California casual and beach shoes are optional! Not only will you enjoy the splendor of the traditional parade of leaders and country flags as Opening Ceremonies convenes—Quota most spectacular “international” event!—you will also be entertained by President Daryl Perrine’s inspirational singing group, the SignSations. All members of Quota International of Wooster, Ohio, U.S.A., the SignSations use the powerful medium of music to spotlight the beauty of American Sign Language. The SignSations were organized in 2000 and have performed at a wide variety of events in Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

Fiesta with Friends
(Convention-wide Happy Hour)

As home of the International Mariachi Festival, San Jose is a perfect place to enjoy the only thing with more Mexican flavor than tequila—a Mariachi band. And since it would be a pity to have one without the other, join us for Margaritas (or drinks of your choice; cash bar) and authentic Mariachi music, Sunday, July 13, 5-6 p.m., at our first-ever convention-wide happy hour, Fiesta with Friends. Unwind after a long day of convention business and meet up with friends for the revelry of your own district’s party night, immediately following.

Installation Banquet
Join us Monday, July 14, 7-10 p.m., for a fabulous 90th birthday party—for Quota! Following the pageantry of the installation of our new International President, Toddy Silkman, and Quota’s 2008-2009 Board of Directors, we’ll enjoy a scrumptious meal and kick off Quota’s 90th year to the sounds of the Fabulous MVP Band. A variety band with a female front vocalist known for spectacular stage presentation, warm audience rapport, and the best blend and variety of high energy dance music in the Bay area, the Fairmont Hotel’s resident musical group will have us kicking up our heels to some of the best sounds in San Jose.
