Tour Highlights:

Canungra Valley Vineyards

Canungra Valley Vineyards is nestled in the peaceful Canungra Valley in the Gold Coast Hinterland, a scenic 45-minute drive west of the Gold Coast. This area is one of Australia's newly emerging wine growing regions. Canungra Valley soil is well suited to grapes, because the rich river loam has built up over centuries by the flooding creek, and a naturally occurring layer of gravel a meter under the surface allows for excellent drainage. Eight of the fifteen acres of land belonging to the vineyard are "under vine," consisting of 4,000 vines of primarily Chambourcin and Semillon grapes. Your visit on Day 1 will include a wine tasting and picnic with local Quota members. To learn more about Canungra Valley Vineyards, click here.

Lamington National Park/Tree Top Walk

Lamington National Park is the largest preserved subtropical rainforest in Australia and features spectacular scenery as well as a wide range of bird species. The park's "Treetop Walk" is a must for every visitor—nine suspension bridges provide a bird's eye perspective of the forest canopy. For those who would like to go higher still, a deck almost 100 feet (30 meters) off the ground in a tall fig tree is accessible by ladder. Profiles depicting the rainforest flora assist visitors to identify plants along the walkway. The park's Botannical Gardens are ideally located in a setting of regrowth rainforest and large boulders. You will have a chance to explore Lamington National Park during the afternoon on Day 1 of the tour. To learn more about Lamington National Park and its Tree Top Walk, click here.

Moreton Bay

Just one hour from Brisbane city center lies a tropical playground of pristine beaches, beachside towns, great fishing and some of the world's largest sand islands. Brisbane's Moreton Bay encompasses the coastal regions of Bribie, Redcliffe, Sandgate, Wynnum Manly, Redlands, Moreton Island, and North Stradbroke Island. Distinguished by its own geographical uniqueness, this tropical playground rivals even the world's most exotic beach destinations. On the tour's Day 3, enjoy a short stop on the beach of Moreton Bay for morning tea with Redcliffe Quotarians. To learn more about Moreton Bay, click here.

Glass House Mountains

Glass House Mountains were named by Captain Cook and are fantastic volcanic crags, just 20 kilometers (10.4 miles) north of Caboolture. There are some extraordinarily scenic drives through the Glass House Mountains, which are also popular among walkers and climbers due to fabulous bushwalking trails and rock climbing. The Glass House Mountains also hold a rich Aboriginal history. Enjoy the drive through the Glass House Mountains on Day 3 of the tour. To view photographs of the Glass House Mountains, click here.

Noosa National Park

Noosa National Park, one of Queensland's most picturesque parks, was originally inhabited by the Aboriginals. The park borders three main beaches—Noosa Main Beach, Sunshine Beach, and Alexandria Bay—and has beautiful bays and coves along its seaside fringe. Open woodlands with a heath understorey and low wallum heath cover most of the park. Hoop and kauri pines tower above small rainforest pockets growing on sand in sheltered sites away from the sea breezes. A full day to visit the many wonders of Noosa National Park and perhaps boat ride through the famous Noosa Everglades is planned for Day 4 of the tour.
