2006
Service-on-Site Project: Since 1919, Quota's volunteer work has focused on service to deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, as well as disadvantaged women and children, all over the world. When members from around the globe come together for the biennial Quota convention, they have the unique opportunity to combine their volunteer efforts through Service-on-Site, a program in which the host committee selects a service project to benefit the local community. By participating in this year's Service-on-Site project, Quotarians will give the gift of music to children in the area served by District 30. Entitled "Service on Sound," the project invites members to bring to convention CD's, DVD's, and instruments to be donated to schools supporting the intellectually and physically handicapped. Such musical resources offer both enjoyment and developmental benefits but are often luxuries to families trying to address more immediate needs. Give students a chance to make their own music by bringing triangles,
tambourines, castanets, and other instruments, or donate your favorite
recordings on CD or DVD. Classical, pop, jazzthe sky is the limit!
By sharing the songs and instruments that reflect your heritage or contemporary
culture, you will not only share the joy of music, but also give children
a unique glimpse into a world they might never have encountered. Thanks
to the combined efforts of Quotarians at the 2006 convention, these children
will be able to experience those worlds over and over again. Home / Join / Help / Marketplace / Contact Quota / Site Index |
