Convention 2006 Program and Speaker Highlights

President Carolyn Rice cordially invites you to attend Quota International's upcoming international gathering of members and leaders from around the world, Convention 2006, July 21 to July 24, in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.

Convention offers a great mix of business, networking, learning, and social activities, and let's face it…some GREAT QUOTA FUN! And you will certainly enjoy the wonderful array of pre- and post-convention tours that are planned. The latest convention highlights, presented here, just might whet your appetite for connecting with Quota-internationally!

Business Reports, Activities, Meetings
The serious side of convention offers briefings, update reports, the opportunity to vote on important business, and general session discussions and presentations:

  • Friday, July 21: First-Timers Orientation.

  • Saturday, July 22: Delegates Parliamentary Briefing, Memorial Presentation, President's Message, Presentation of 2006-2007 Nominees, Executive Director's Report, Treasurer's Report.

  • Sunday, July 23: 2006-2007 Treasurer Elections, Club President's Breakfast, Leaders as Listeners Town Meeting, Bylaws Committee Report, Development and Growth Report, Area Meetings.

International Service Showcase Presentations
A fabulous international service program will warm your Quota heart and inspire you.

  • Saturday, July 22: Volunteers in Action—Hurricane Relief Efforts. Speaker: Vicki Miller, District 21 Lieutenant Governor.

  • Saturday, July 22: Disadvantaged Women and Children Service. Speaker: Marilou Del Rosario, Chair, Disadvantaged Women and Children Committee.

  • Sunday, July 23: Speech and Hearing Service. Speaker: Linda Morton, Chair, Speech and Hearing Committee.

  • Monday, July 24: Quota International Service Resolutions.

  • Monday, July 24: Club-to-Club World Service. Speaker: Suzanne Prosser, Chair, World Service Committee.

  • Monday, July 24: Service Presentation. Speaker: Beverly Bradley, President, QI of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.

  • Monday, July 24: Service-on-Site Presentation. Speakers: Karen Murphy, Lieutenant Governor, District 30, and Kate Chapman, Deputy Principal, Kumbari Avenue Special School, Queensland, Australia.

Workshop Programs and Panels
Attention all Quota lifelong learners…Convention 2006 is offering TWO afternoons of inspiring, educational, informative, and instructive learning opportunities. We have a learning adventure for every Quota interest—11 separate break-out sessions in all.

  • "Charge Your Quota Battery" Workshop Series, Saturday, July 22. Spark your Quota learning by participating in our Convention 2006 workshop series—five sessions designed to help you achieve excellence in your club, in Quota, and in your own life. Choose from workshops where you will…

    • Receive professional, in-depth training on conflict resolution from human resources and management expert Beatriz Doran-Scoop, Past International President. This leadership development program is recommended for all club presidents and district governors.

    • Review Quota's finances with Treasurer Daryl Perrine and Executive Director Kathleen Treiber.

    • Learn the "ABC's" of parliamentary procedure from Quota International's parliamentarian, Carolyn Stubbs.

    • Travel to Quota's Club-to-Club World Service Projects in India and the Philippines with Quota International's president, Carolyn Rice.

    • Join your fellow Quotarians for some stress relieving laughter, and learn about the principles of Good Hearted Living© to help prevent "hardening of the attitudes." It's sure to be a fun hour with workshop leader Saundra Maisey, District 29 Governor.

  • Quota's "Best of the Best" Success Panels, Sunday, July 23. Six panels—each focusing on a different Quota topic—will showcase the best in Quota club projects worldwide. Quota Cares Month winners, Excellence Award winners, successful Quota branch organizers, and 5K fund-raising winners are among the panelists who will share details about their winning projects along with tips on how you can replicate success in your own Quota club or community. Choose the two that interest YOU most!

After Hours
In addition to networking coffee breaks throughout the convention, enjoy these spectacular social events.

  • Friday, July 21: Governors Reunion (district officers/past district officers only), Silent Auction and Cash Bar Reception, Opening Ceremonies Evening and Banquet, Wanda Awards.

  • Sunday, July 23: Convention-wide Quota Fellowship and Party Night at SeaWorld Adventure Park

  • Monday, July 24: Installation Evening and Banquet
