Learn about the Service-on-Site Project

Founded in 1919, Quota International dedicates most of its volunteer work to help deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals and disadvantaged women and children. At every convention, the host committee selects a charity to which visiting Quota members donate items toward a specific program.

This year, Quota's host districts-Districts 11 and 18—selected The Canadian Hearing Society's Literacy & Basic Skills Program, designed to assist new Deaf Canadians to learn American Sign Language (ASL), English, math, and to adapt to a new culture. Quota members from around the world brought dictionaries, pens, pencils, markers, notebooks, erasers, calculators, rulers, and more as donations.

Twenty boxes of supplies and dictionaries were donated, and they were presented to Phyllis Ferguson of the Canadian Hearing Society during the Service-on-Site presentation on Monday morning, July 20, by Marie Dobson-Dunlop, Chair of the Convention 2004 Welcome Committee.
