Opening Ceremonies
An evening of great entertainment was held at Opening Ceremonies 2004, Friday, July 16. Ruth Carson, of Fairbanks, Alaska, presented an eclectic musical cabaret performance of blues, swing, contemporary, and big band music. Always a lover of all types of music—Ruth enjoys everything from barbershop to chorale singing—she began her cabaret performances at the Summer Arts Festival in Alaska. She was accompanied on the piano by her sister-in-law, Suzanne Finbraaten, an accomplished pianist in her own right. Suzanne plays in a variety of venues, from jazz to rock to liturgical settings, and works as a high school guidance counselor.

Health & Fitness
Ruth Carson's "day job" finds her working as a physical therapist in her own business, Equinox Physical Therapy. She's also a certified Jazzercise instructor, and President Mary Cotter is a frequent participant in her classes! Ruth led Convention 2004 aerobics classes on Saturday, July 17, and Sunday, July 18, from 6:00 - 7:00 a.m. for all interested convention attendees. Ruth also held a women's health and fitness workshop on Saturday, July 17. To read a descripton of her session, click here.
