Club-to-Club Projects Bring Members Together in Service

Quota clubs around the globe contributed more than U.S.$33,000 in 2002-2003 to approved Club-to-Club World Service Projects, says 2002-2003 International Service Committee Chair Tina Toohey (right), Quota's outgoing East Area Director.

Club-to-Club is a program administered through the We Share Foundation's World Net Service Program. It allows Quota members to donate to Quota-run projects in developing countries. Projects include three sites in the Philippines, three in India, and one in Fiji.

"The real beauty of this program is that we can donate to these projects in confidence," notes Chair Tina, "because they are run by our fellow Quota members who know what needs to be done in their own local areas and how to go about doing it."

In the Philippines, projects include:

  • two pre-school day-care centers run by QI of Cebu
  • a rehabilitation center and soup kitchen run by QI of Manila South
  • a tutoring and skills training program for female prison inmates, run by QI of Manila

In India, projects include:

  • The Quota Home for Abused and Destitute Women, run by QI of New Delhi
  • a Home for the Aged refurbished by QI of Sainik Farm plus a mobile crèche to help children of local workers
  • a medical dispensary and vocational training center, run by QI of DLF City

In Fiji, the Ba Quota Club supports hearing-impaired students and launched an audiology program for local elderly persons.

The project in New Delhi also received a major grant award from the Meyerson Family Tzedakeh Fund, totaling nearly U.S.$100,000, to complete the construction of a second building at the site. During the convention presentation, New Delhi Club President Sadhana Aggarwal (left) shared details of the project.
