Service to Disadvantaged Women and Children Remains Top Priority

Service to Disadvantaged Women and Children remains a top priority in Quota International, according to 2002-2003 International DWC Committee Chair Elizabeth (Liz) Revell (left), Quota's Canada Area Director.

Quota clubs donated more than U.S.$367,000 in 2002-2003 to help women and children in need, based on club presidents' reports. Projects provided:

  • job training and preparation
  • literacy classes
  • parenting classes
  • scholarships
  • tutoring
  • school supplies
  • cuddly bears to clutch in crises
  • substance-abuse prevention programs
  • mentoring programs
  • shelters
  • medical and dental care

QI of Metro Denver, Colorado, U.S.A., continued a creative project to help teenaged mothers stay in school. Club member Debbie Verhoeff (left) presented details of their program to mentor and tutor girls and provide babysitting for their children to help them complete high school.
