2008-2009 Annual Reports and
Quota International Highlights

Quota's 2008-2009 fiscal year, a year in which we celebrated Quota International's 90th anniversary, was filled with activity and major decisions. Quota International supported 90th anniversary activities by producing a special celebration pin and pendant/charm and a publicity package for clubs to use in planning local efforts.

We were very pleased with the success of Convention 2008 held in San Jose, California, U.S.A.—July 11 to July 14, 2008. Convention activities were held at the Fairmont San Jose Hotel. A total of 389 members and leaders representing 11 different Quota countries attended.

Our signature program, Club-to-Club World Service, enjoyed increased success both in terms of donations received and the number of communities now served in Quota's developing countries. We also celebrated the renewal of the Sound Beginnings Program by our corporate partner, Siemens Hearing Instruments, Inc.

Connecting Quotarians worldwide became easier during the 2008-2009 Quota year thanks to a new interactive Web publication, the Quota Express. Three new clubs were organized during the 2008-2009 fiscal year, all in Quota's South Area. Development and growth assistance was extended to our districts via a special Leaders as Listeners discussion program presented at 2009 district conferences.

Financially, the 2008-2009 fiscal year was budgeted to end with a U.S.$86,400 combined deficit for Quota International and the We Share Foundation. While the We Share Foundation ended with a deficit, Quota International's income exceeded its revenue ending with a positive bottom line. Donations were successful—99 percent of our combined fund-raising goal of $164,000 was met.

For the first time in 14 years, Convention 2008 voting delegates passed a dues increase—a move that will significantly help the organization reduce and ultimately eliminate its use of reserve funds for balancing its annual budget. The bylaw that was passed included a provision that the board may increase the dues annually based on the cost-of-living increase determined by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
