Quota News

“Sharing Quota’s Heart Around the World” is this year's theme, and we certainly felt it on Installation night at our convention in Toronto. Everyone was greeted with a red heart at their table and they were encouraged to fill the heart with their personal message and provide their contact information. We collected over 250 completed hearts, and I would like to share a few inspiring “hearts” with you:

“To Quotarians all over the World: Quota shares love all around; everyone has a big heart for Quota. Let’s share our love with everyone.”

“Quota will remain in the hearts of all those who have been touched by Quota, whether you are the receiver or giver.”

“I wish you and your club the friendship and service I am finding as a new Quotarian. I hope to meet the person who receives this—that we may share Quota's meaning.”

As I travel to different clubs throughout the world, I will have my basket of Heart Messages available for you to pick out your heart and connect with another Quotarian. You can also leave your message, and who knows where it will end up! If you would like to send me your message, please do so and I will fill out a “heart” for you. You can contact me at nicollea@comcast.net.

President’s Message

Our hearts go out to our South Area Quotarians and friends who have been affected by this year’s hurricanes. We wish you the very best for a swift and smooth recovery in the months ahead.

2004-2005
International President
Nicôl Lea

September 10, 2004

Dear Fellow Quotarians:

Our membership is growing! Our newest club, Quota International of Silver City, New South Wales, Australia, was chartered on August 6, 2004. We also launched three new branches. Our first branch is Cowra Branch of Quota International of Parkes, New South Wales, Australia. Our second Australian branch is the Myall Branch of Quota International of Forster Tuncurry. Our third branch, and first in the United States, is Carolina Piedmont Branch of Quota International of Greensboro, North Carolina. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Area Meetings
This year's Area Meetings promise to be something extra special. We know you love being with your fellow Quotarians, enjoying the opportunity to meet new friends, and renewing long-term friendships. Your area directors are going all out to make these meetings spectacular, packed full with the latest news from around Quota's world, our international service projects, and workshops filled with tips and ideas to generate growth in your clubs. I will be attending the South Area Meeting on October 15 to 17, the East Area Meeting on October 22 to 24, the West Area Meeting on October 29 to 31, and the South Pacific Area Meeting on March 11 to 13, 2005. If you would like more information on these meetings, please click on the following links:

Governor's Visits
Governor's visits to the clubs are in full swing, and I wish the governors well in their presentations and travels. This is an important part of the Quota link where our members have the opportunity to share highlights about their membership and service projects with their governor. The governors also have the opportunity to share news about Quota with members. I have always looked forward to my district governor's visit as I learn something new each year.

We Share Foundation
Pictures, pictures, pictures galore! Pictures do speak volumes and we need your pictures. Every year we receive photos from your service projects that tell your story and how your work has made a difference in someone's life. Remember the deadline to enter the We Share Foundation International Photo Contest is October 1, 2004. Every picture submitted is used in Quota International print and Web publications—a wonderful way to raise your club's visibility around the world. For more information, please click here.

Quota International of Magnolia, Arkansas, U.S.A., received the 2003 Grand Prize for a portrait of infant hearing screening in a local hospital, using medical equipment provided by the club.

International Committees
One of the opportunities of being president is to appoint members to serve on Quota's international committees. This year we have openings on the Bylaws Committee, a five to seven member committee, and the We Share Foundation Hearing and Speech Committee, a ten to 15 member committee. To be considered for service on either committee, please contact me at nicollea@comcast.net. It is my desire to have both committees internationally diverse.

This year promises to be a full one with many changes for us. We are embarking on an exciting journey full of wonderful surprises and delights for us and for those with whom we share Quota's Heart. I encourage you to join me in making this your best year in Quota!

With Love,
