March 29, 2006 Dear Fellow Quotarians, Once again the forces of nature have wreaked havoc, this time in my homeland of Australia. Cyclone Larry, a category 5 storm, struck northern Queensland's coast on March 20 with winds of up to 180 miles (289 kilometers) an hour. While we have no Quota clubs in the area, our hearts go out in sympathy to those people and communities involved, as the destruction and economic aftermath means that the ensuing recovery of the area will indeed take a very long time. Quota
Cares Month I have been able to attend a couple of functions in my own part of the world, including my own club's International Women's Day Luncheon, which was a great success. Our guest speaker was a Para Olympian horse rider, an amazing woman. I also joined the members of QI of Taree at their "Tea Cozies" functionan afternoon tea and auction. Seventy tea cozies of all shapes, colors, and sizes were entered by business houses in the town. Public voting decided the winners, and the cozies were auctioned while guests enjoyed afternoon tea (over tea the cozies were auctioned).
