Still
Accepting Donations of Auction Items!
Its not too late to contribute. Were accepting donations of
auction items ranging in value from $50 to $1,000 and up. Quota members,
clubs, districts, areas, and individuals or businesses everywhere who
care are invited to donate items. All proceeds from the auction benefit
Quota International's Wanda Frey Joiner Development Fund. You won't
need to send the actual item to us; you'll send it to the person who is
the highest bidder when our auction ends. (You are responsible for
the shipping cost, so please keep that in mind when selecting your donation
item!) Photos of items are appreciated for the auction Web site.
What
Donations Work?
Check out the donation data from our past two auctions:
- The item with the most bids in 2007 was the Tablecloth and Matching
Napkins made at the Quota Home. A beautiful hand-crafted shawl was also
in the running for the most bids.
Lesson learned: Something personal, made with love will attract
attention.
The
item that brought in the most money in 2007 was a week's stay at a vacation
home on a lake in Ontario. In 2006, the highest grossing item was a
week at a time-share in sunny Aruba.
Lesson learned: Quotarians will pay for a nice place to stay!
Jewelry
is very popularwe received well over 100 bids for jewelry items
in 2007 and nearly that many in 2006.
Lesson learned: Quota members love their jewelry!
- Clothing and Accessories were also a hit with our members. It's no
surprise that purses, shawls, evening bags, scarves, vests, and evening
jackets were bid up!
Lesson learned: Members need clothing and accessories to go with
their jewelry!
- Food is always a top seller, and why not, with specialties offered
from different parts of the world. We have had Missouri, Amish country
and Michigan gift baskets. Not to mention lobsters, clams and crab cakes,
blueberries, cheese and crackers, taffy, and cakes galore!
Lesson learned: Food is good.
From
possums to African animals. From watercolors to lithographs and etchings.
Q-Mart has been a very good place to find unique artwork for a great
value.
Lesson learned: Quotarians want to dress their homes as nicely
as they dress themselves.
Overall lesson learned about donations from our past two online auctions:
Be
creative! Q-Mart is fun. It's fun to browse the site and fun to
see what's been donated from all over the world. Donate something FUN!
It will all add up to more funds for Quota's Wanda Frey Joiner development
and growth fund.
