2014-2016 Regional Directors

R6 – Barbara Peles

Quota International of Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA (District 3)

What are your qualifications for the position of Quota Regional Director?
As a 14-year member of Quota International of Indiana, PA, Inc., I have served our club as chairman of various committees, board member and club president from 2000-2002. I followed my presidency position to the district level serving as lieutenant governor then governor from 2002-2006. I also served as a district secretary from 2006-2007. I have attended district conferences, East Area meetings and International Conventions. I was able to attend conventions in New Orleans, Toronto, Pittsburgh and Hawaii, so I feel I have a true flavor for our organization.
What are your goals for your specific region?
I am excited to move our organization through the transition to Regions in our Quota of Tomorrow plan. I want Region 6 to be organized allowing it to flourish for years to come. Continuing the cohesive bond we share at the club, district and area levels will be transferred to our Region. My focus will be two-fold: growth/development with an emphasis on retention, and communications through social media, email or regular mail. I will do whatever it takes to keep Region 6 connected. If elected, I am looking forward to assembling a team of Quotarians that will reflect Region 6.
What do you do outside of Quota?
Currently, my husband and I own residential rentals in Indiana, PA. Prior to that we had an underground coal mine company serving as administrator (2008-2011) and owned and operated a barbeque restaurant (2002-2008). We have started three successful businesses from scratch, so I feel I am comfortable taking on this new Quota position. I serve on the Advisory Board of S & T Bank. We have a 13-year old daughter, Katie, and through involvement in her activities, I was PTA president for two years and a Girl Scout leader for four years. I am a journalism graduate from IUP (1991).
What else would you like to share with the members of your region?
In 1999, I was the Director of the local tourism agency and I decided to join in an effort to see my two best friends at least once per month for dinner. What I have received in return for this membership has been 50+ new friends, countless leadership opportunities and a sense of pride in giving back locally, regionally and internationally. I am “Quota-Proud” and although I typically like to be a behind-the-scenes “do-er”, I appreciate the need to step up and be a leader when the organization needs it. I would be honored to serve as your Regional Director.
