R17 – Patricia Figueroa
Quota International of Mountain View/Los Altos, California, USA (District 12)
What are your qualifications for the position of Quota Regional Director?
Member in Quota for 30 years serving in a variety of capacities at my club and District level includes serving as Governor and Lt. Governor. Currently I am serving as District Parliamentarian.
I feel my most important qualification for the Regional Director Position is my dedication to make sure that I give my best to whatever job I am doing. T he position of Regional Director will require me to not only make sure that I do my job but also that all the other “elements” required of the “team” for the Region have a stable foundation.
What are your goals for your specific region?
Make the transition from Areas and Districts to a Region as smooth as possible for all clubs in the Region; Maintain the friendships developed during Area Meetings by developing a Region 17 Website so that all the Quotarians in the Region always have the ability to be informed of the progress and status of our Region; Establish a Region 17 Facebook Page to maintain long established Area Friendships, encourage informal passing of information between Clubs, and also to share information with other Regions; Remind members of services and resources Quota International has available to their members.
What do you do outside of Quota?
Chairman of Mountain View Historical Association; Chairman of Mountian View Sister City Affiliation; Board member of Senior Adults Legal Assistance (SALA gives ProBono Legal Assistance to Seniors in our County); SALA Golf Committee (Golf Tournament held annually at Stanford University Golf Club- money raised to fund a SALA Attorney); Member of Mountain View Chamber of Commerce; Board member of Sister City International (NorCal Board); Former Mountain View City Councilmember (18 years) and Mayor (2 times). Retired. Hobby: Traveling. If the area I am visiting has a Quota Club always try to visit – great opportunity to learn and share.
What else would you like to share with the members of your region?
We always say that “Quota” is not well known in our Communities. One of the ways to help resolve that as well as doing some recruiting of new members is to do more Community Outreach. We are always very generous with our time and donations to our “Service” organizations. But we need to remember to take that next step by participating in our “Community Events” and maybe have a handout showing what fun we have while giving back to the community. Let us remember to find ways to share with each other how we do our “Community Outreach”.
