LuAnne Bonanno

Quota International of Lawrence, Massachusetts, USA (Region 7/District 29)

What is your vision for the future of Quota International?
I see Quota as a thriving, evolving organization made up of people from all walks of life, men and women, all ages and professions. We will be made up of traditional clubs, but also J Quota Clubs, Cyber Quota clubs and Silver Quota clubs, learning from each other, sharing our ideas our hearts and our hands, constantly striving to improve our world.
What is your Quota experience?
I was my club’s secretary for many years-long before email! I have been Assistant Treasurer and on the Executive Board of the Lawrence, MA club. I was Club President, Lt. Governor and Governor for two years. I am currently in my second year of my second tenure as Club President. I am Chair of the Scholarship Committee, and have served on the Ways and Means and Nominating Committee for my club. I have also served on the Nominating Committee and the Budget Committee at the District level.
What is your professional background and experience?
My husband and I own Pleasant Valley Gardens, a 50-acre vegetable farm in Methuen, MA. I am in charge of managing our sales greenhouse, where we sell bedding plants for folks who want to plant a garden. I also create custom, living cemetery baskets, window boxes, patio planters and centerpieces. I help with our wholesale vegetable operation.

We also have a 150 member Community Supported Agriculture program, which I manage. Each week our members get a box of vegetables from our farm. I also write and distribute our weekly newsletter page, which always has a ‘recipe of the week’.
What would you like to share about your non-Quota activities and awards?
I am a member of the Northeast Chapter of Les Dames D’escoffier, an organization dedicated to women in food.

My family is a member of the Massachusetts Farm Bureau, and a few years ago I was lucky enough to be one of 15 women from around the country chosen to participate in a Communications Boot Camp, where I learned about public speaking.

I was Mrs. Essex County 2009-I served as the Ambassador to our local county fair and spent my reign traveling and speaking around my county.
