District 29
Quota International of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, U.S.A.
1. How long have you been a member of Quota International?
12 years
2. Why did you join Quota International?
I was at a cross roads in my life, and I had a desire to find a way to
provide service to my community. A co-worker introduced me to the club
in Portsmouth, and I was hooked.
3. What has been your most meaningful Quota experience?
There have been so many it's hard to pick one. The most emotional and
meaningful would have to be at the Spring Conference last year2004.
My husband had just passed away two weeks priorhe had attended a
lot of the district meetings, so a lot of the ladies in District 29 had
spent some time with him. I was hesitant to attend, but once I was there,
I knew it was where I should be. I felt the love and support of all of
the wonderful Quotarians, and it made a very difficult time much easier.
4. What are your goals for your year as governor?
I hope to jump start our clubs with some new ideas for fun and fellowship,
as well as ways to attract new members to our clubs. It's time to consider
some not so conventional ways for recruitment, as well as try out some
new fund-raising ideas.
5. What are your activities and interests outside of Quota?
I'm a member of the Board of Trustees for Devon Nicole House at Children's
Hospital in Boston. It's a residence for families with a child undergoing
treatment at the hospital and provides a place for them to call "home"
during difficult times. Also, I have just recently been named a Certified
Laughter Leader, and am working on plans to establish Laughter Clubs in
our area. I would like to bring this presentation to Quota events as well.
