Sheila
Ann Morris
District 27
QI of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, U.S.A.
How long have you been a member of Quota International?
5 years
Why did you join Quota International?
After attending a yard sale, seeing a banner, and asking "What's
Quota," I attended a membership dinner and met some of the finest
women I have ever known. I immediately felt welcome and was delighted
to accept their invitation to join the club. When I learned more about
Quota and its mission, I knew this was the right organization for me.
Quota changes lives. As a Quotarian I am able to participate in helping
others in a much greater way than I would be able to do as an individual.
What has been your most meaningful Quota experience?
After attending my first Quota International convention, I was no longer
just a member of my Quota club; I became a Quotarian. At the convention
I saw the true internationality of Quota, and I learned so much more of
the wonderful work Quotarians worldwide accomplish.
What are your goals for your year as governor?
We have had wonderful leadership in our district, and I want to draw on
their knowledge as mentors to our newer Quotarians.
At our last district conference, I initiated a Service-on-Site project
that was well received, and I will continue with that project at future
conferences.
In listening to the members of our district, it is apparent that they
all want more opportunities to visit and interact with each other. We
all have so many friends in other clubs, and it seems we only see each
other at Quota functions where "business" is conducted. We'll
have some purely social activities this year, to spend more time with
our friends.
Most importantly, I want to lead our district in a positive way
recognizing and accentuating the strengths of our clubs and club members
and the good things we do, speaking positively about our district and
club members, and creating an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable
and appreciated.
What are your activities and interests outside of Quota?
My husband and I own a small business that keeps us busy, but we always
find time to enjoy our six children and nine grandchildren. I love to
read, work around our home, and I love to travel and see new places and
meet new people.
