President’s Message

2010-2011
International President
Gwenn Jackson

August 23, 2010

Dear Fellow Quotarians,

The end of August means children are returning back to school here in north Louisiana, my home. Even though it is hot and humid, the high school football team is having a scrimmage, the band is marching, and families are shopping for back-to-school clothes. Both of my children are now settled at university. Rather than lamenting an empty nest, however, I am embracing the many possibilities for Quota International during this exciting season.

Many clubs in the northern hemisphere are returning to their customary schedule and planning events that fill the Quota year. Have you seen Quota’s wonderful new publicity tool box? It is available to all on our Web site by clicking here! Plan to use these tools to promote Quota in your community throughout the year. It will help your club get the community recognition you deserve, recognition that will enhance your membership recruitment and fund-raising efforts.

Publicity also enhances our efforts for new club organization, a vital need at this time. I am encouraged by the efforts of members and districts who have chosen to help Quota to grow our family this year. I am excited to be a part of that effort in my own district as we reach out to a new community. Thank you goes to the many members who are delivering possibilities to new communities and sharing their heritage of service. To print a new club organization guide, click here.

Our governors are now making visits to clubs, sharing with you the message and excitement of Convention 2010. Your governor will introduce you to intriguing concepts in member recruitment that we learned in our convention workshop with service club expert Cynthia D’Amour. You will learn how becoming a “Lazy Leader” can help you transform your club, involve more members, and assure member retention. We Quota members have the opportunity to continue our learning during the year with free webinars and reasonable resources Cynthia provides on her Web site located at www.peoplepowerunlimited.com.

Already several clubs and districts have scheduled “Listening Tour” focus groups. These small group gatherings of young adults are an integral part of discovering the possibilities for the Quota of tomorrow.  If you have interest in hosting an event that will help your club gain insight into a young mind-set, begin by reading the Listening Tour guide that you can read or print by clicking here. Decide what group you will invite, complete the form included, and notify the office of your date.

I have several Listening Tour dates already on my calendar and hope to add more at your invitation. I will be happy to moderate your focus group, attend membership functions, install new members, charter new clubs, and gain media attention for your club. Let us know as soon as possible what you are planning, so that I can plan as well. Remember, the early bird gets the worm. To print an invitation form, click here.

I am keeping a journal of the year on-line at www.deliveringpossibilities.com. This blog effort is a marriage of my hot buttons, as defined by Cynthia, opportunities for fellowship with you, and my personal growth. I hope you will come along with me and enjoy the journey.

We are making progress in our plan to Create the Quota of Tomorrow and we will be keeping you informed during the year. More progress is possible when we all participate, utilizing the new publicity tools, embracing new training in membership recruitment and retention, sharing the opportunity for service in a near-by community through new club organization, and hosting “Listening Tour” focus groups. Together, we are Delivering Possibilities for Quota International.

Yours in Quota,

Gwenn Jackson
International President
