QI of Las Piñas, The Philippines
Without Quota, a vital health test with the power to improve a child’s life wouldn’t be performed. QI of Las Piñas provides newborn screening tests to patients at their adopted Pediatric Ward at Las Piñas General Hospital Trauma Center with the help of Hand-in-Hand donations. The simple procedure detects congenital metabolic disorder that may lead to developmental disability and even death if left untreated. The screening program has served hundreds of babies to date. In addition, the club has outfitted the hospital ward (now named after Quota!), most recently providing bed sheets, hospital gowns, pillow cases, and mattress covers. The club also provides a cervical cancer vaccine, providing three doses of the vaccine for disadvantaged young women. To learn more about the pediatric ward project, click here.
