Quota International of Kolkata
Many children of Kolkata, India are receiving little to no education. Quota International of Kolkata is working to change that, operating a children’s school and daycare center, which serves 35 impoverished students, ages one to seven. Donations go toward meals, education, higher education scholarships, and toys for the kids. Members visit the school regularly and spend time teaching and playing with the children. On the same premises is the vocational center for poor women. Trained teachers instruct a variety of skills courses including switching, knitting, and embroidery. The training provides students with the skills necessary to earn a decent living. All students are advised to create samples of their crafts to show to potential employers.
