Irene V. Heroux has been selected as the 2013 Quotarian of the Year by Quota International of Woonsocket. This honor recognizes members who exemplify the image of Quota through leadership and community service. Irene has been an active member of Quota since she joined the club thirteen years ago. She has served on the Board of Directors, served a two-year term as Treasurer, held the position of President-Elect for a year and President for three years. Irene’s involvement in Quota extended to the District level, where she was Lt. Governor for two years. She subsequently served a two-year term as District Governor. Concurrent to holding all these offices, Irene also chaired the Budget, Ways and Means and By-Laws committees. As chair of that committee, she revised the by-laws in 2005 and 2009, and also spearheaded the development of a manual listing the duties of all the club officers as well as the duties of all committee and dinner meeting chairs. This manual has proven to be an invaluable club reference. Irene also instituted the awarding of Membership Anniversary Pins. She has chaired the 25-Week Club, Flea Market, Bazaar, Autumnfest and Summer Outing committees. She chaired numerous Dinner Meetings and scheduled guest speakers for these events. She has served as co-chair of the Bazaar, Halloween Breakfast, Farmer’s Market, Program and World Service committees. In addition to her chair and co-chair duties, Irene has also served on the World Service, Hearing and Speech, Community Service, Disadvantaged Women & Children and 75th Anniversary committees and participated in club Yard Sales and Nursing Home visits. Irene attended Quota’s International Convention in Vancouver in 2010 and represented Quota at Area 1 Conferences in New Hampshire and Virginia. She attended numerous District Conferences and participated in Leadership Training seminars. She organized the first Tri-District Conference in 2011. Irene has been a member of the Woonsocket Elks BPOE #850 for 15 years. She served on their Auditing Committee for 10 years and chaired that committee for two years. Irene was appointed by the mayor to the Woonsocket Board of Tenant Affairs and has served on that board for the past two years. She has been a volunteer bartender at the Stadium Theatre for the past five years. Irene is a graduate of Woonsocket High School and holds an Associate Degree from the Community College of Rhode Island. She held the position of Office Manager at Coby Glass Co. for 24 years. She is retired from the RI National Guards where she worked as a Financial Supervisor for 19 years. Irene has been married to Ronald Heroux for 23 years. She is the mother of Alan Leclaire and is the stepmother of Bruce, Michael and Vickie Heroux and has eight grandchildren
