Our Quota Cares Month project
Our Quota Month Project was a book distribution event with the Arcata Police Department with the Cops ‘n’ Kids Program. Cops ‘n’ Kids is a literacy program that is working to connect officers with students. In an interview with Police Chief Tom Chapman, “This program is a way for kids to see law enforcement in a differnet light. The relationship with law enforcement often times is not made in the best circumstances. Often times people are in crisis, something bad is happening. This is certainly not that situation. This is a positive situation where we can develop positive relationships.” Our book distribution event was held at Pacific Union School with the 3rd grade class. The APD brought their Mobile Command Unit vehicle and their K-9 officer and K-9 German Shepard “Bronco”. The books were layed out on the conference table in the back of the Mobile Command Unit. As the kids came in and picked out their book, Quotarian Kay Moore talked to the kids about community service and that Quota was a community service club that provided the books for todays event. Next they exited the Mobile Command Unit and were able to play with Bronco and interact with the APD officers. From there we went back to the classroom where Police Chief Tom Chapman read a story to the class. One more visit from Bronco to the classroom, finished the event. The benefit from this event to the community is the long term effect this will have on…

How did our QCM project benefit our community?
Our Quota Care Month Project has been great for our Quota Club. Before the Cops ‘n’ Kids Program, nobody knew who Quota was. Now we are being associated with this project. Also because of the Cops ‘n’ Kids Program, we have had access to both newspaper and TV news coverage. When the Arcata Police send out a press release, we get immediate attention, one of the perks working with a police department. We have attracted interest on who Quota is and what we do at our events. Some things take time, but we are definitely getting out name, Quota, out in our community.

How did our QCM project benefit our club / members?
How does being involved with Arcata Police Department and Cops ‘n’ Kids benefit our club?…..here are some of the comments we have recieved from our members… SUPER FANTASTIC…..What a great job! Great Job, what a review of our activites. WOW….Amazing! This makes my heart so happy….. This is just great! The members feel good about what we are doing. They know the long term effect they are having in the community and they feel proud of what they are doing.
