Quota International of Tacoma, Washington, USA
Our Quota Cares Month project
QI of Tacoma selected Project Linus as our Quota Cares Month Project for 2013. Project Linus is a non-profit national organization of volunteer “blanketeers” that provide new handmade blankets and afghans to children who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need of a sense of security, warmth and comfort. It also provides a rewarding and fun service opportunity for individuals and groups such as QI of Tacoma in local communities including Pierce, King and Snohomish Counties for the benefit of children. Our club made and delivered 35 fleece blankets to the LP Coordinator on 3/16/13 to the Pacific Fabrics Store in Seattle, WA.
How did our QCM project benefit our community?
Our club held blanket making events at two different venues, once at the University Place Public Library and the other at Peace Lutheran Church in Puyallup. Both locations are adjacent to our club location in the city of Tacoma. Both events were well advertised on the Library website and in the Church bulletin. We did attract potential members who will be attend our next D & G event on 4/30/13.
How did our QCM project benefit our club / members?
100% of the membership of our club was involved in one or more aspects of this project. It definitely improved morale. Some of our senior members were unable to cut and sew the blankets but several of them helped us “tie” the fringed fleece blankets. Others helped out by bringing and serving refreshments and lunch. Everyone felt involved and enjoyed the enthusiasm and camaraderie among the membership.
