Our Quota Cares Month project
Quota Toowoomba ran a March month-long fund raising project for the Hear and Say Centre in Toowoomba for LEAP – their Little Explorers Auditory-Verbal Program, a group session for the sharing of books, songs, language-based games, imaginative play, creative dance and storytelling. A local restaurant/gift shop owner donated $1 from every meal sold across the first Sunday then 20cents for every drink(hot or cold) sold across the rest of March – total raised $1155 for very little effort apart from eating and drinking lots across the month!!
How did our QCM project benefit our community?
Pre-publicity organised by Quota and the H&S Centre included local newspaper articles and photographs featuring families of deaf children from the centre – then TV coverage of the Breakfast on the first Sunday of the month. Flyers and table-talkers were also featured in the restaurant across the month. Our D&G member has had some enquiries from prospective members who saw the TV spot.
How did our QCM project benefit our club / members?
All members supported the project either by attending the first Sunday all day breakfast or having coffee there during the month with their friends and relatives. Members helped to decorate breakfast tables with butterflies and balloons, wore butterfly wings at the breakfast or purchased goods to support the H&H Butterfly Appeal for March. All were very much in favour of this as a fund raising project as after initial publicity tasks, all that was required was for them to be very social for the rest of the month!!
