Our Quota Cares Month project
Townsville Quota Club’s “Quota Cares Month” activities involved a giant rabbit, Easter eggs, butterflies and a giant ear! We set up our tent at Cotter’s Market and Willow’s Market on two successive Sundays in March for our public awareness campaign designed to strengthen recruitment, retention, fundraising, service and publicity for our club. Members, wearing our uniform, handed out brochures about our club and encouraged members of the public to join us at our monthly morning tea and evening drinks and desserts social activities. Names were taken of two prospective members and we are expecting others to come to get to know us. Since members worked rosters, this activity was great for fellowship, which always strengthens retention. We ran a mini working bee assembling butterflies on wires, to be included in the bunches of chrysanthemums we plan to sell for our Mothers’ Day fundraiser. This let members of the public see us having fun together as we worked. The giant rabbit on our table drew attention to our Easter Raffle for which the prizes were a mobile drinks cooler box, seafood vouchers for the needy in our community. Our Sunday mornings at the markets also provided an ideal opportunity to educate the public on Quota International’s “Listen Up, Turn It Down” campaign. Here is where the giant ear was useful. Children in particular, were attracted to it and then parents came over and heard all about the damage excessive noise can do to ears. We had printed off brochures to distribute.…
