Quota Club of Waterloo, Iowa, USA
Our Quota Cares Month project
Our club focused on the importance of perserving one’s hearing starting at a young age by speaking to 8 and 9 year old students at 2 different schools using the “Listen up turn it down” theme, visual aids, flyers and ear plugs. The presentations help to get the word out to our community’s children, and their parents about simple ways to protect their hearing. Our Speech and Hearing Committee, a part of our Quota group, has decided to give future presentations to local PTAs and other schools as well as local businesses throughout the upcoming year.
How did our QCM project benefit our community?
So far, our presentations have first and foremost gotten the word out on protecting one’s hearing starting at a young age if possible, but even as an adult. The teachers and students we have spoken to thus far have an increased awareness of our organization and the type of community service we provide. The written information that has been sent home with the students gives parents an opportunity to read about our Quota group as well. We are hoping to attract new members as a result of our efforts.
How did our QCM project benefit our club / members?
This Quota Cares Month Project benefitted our club by providing us with the latest information on hearing loss and how our young people are at greater risk of losing his/her hearing now more than ever. We involved all members by speaking to them at our March meeting and providing the written information about hearing loss to them. The Quota members present were very interested in the material provided verbally and in written form and gave positive feedback to the members who were presenting.
