Our Quota Cares Month project
Our 2013 Quota Cares Month project involved our ongoing Cops ‘n’ Kids literacy program. This year we added an elementary school in a high-risk area of the city to our Police Officer School Reading sub-program. The officers visit the school once monthly to read and give out books to one grade level. By year-end, all students receive a book directly from an officer. Our Quota Cares month event celebrated the addition of Johnson Elementary, by having an all-school assembly. Our Police Chief and several officers who are involved in this school reading program and other schools, visited with children and passed out books that Quota provided. The children also enjoyed a healthy snack, provided by Quota. The smiles on their faces as they received their own books were heartwarming to our members who participated in the event.

How did our QCM project benefit our community?
The school community gained a heightened awareness of Quota and the work that we are doing – not just the reading program in their school.

How did our QCM project benefit our club / members?
Both long-term and new members of our club participated in this event. It was particularly beneficial to the new members to see our club in action, and see how we are making a difference in our community. Hands-on service is something our club members value.
