Barb Loucks/Judy Gilmartin
QI Bath, New York, USA
After attending QI Bath’s fashion show for several years and witnessing the fellowship, friendship and fun, sisters Barb Loucks and Judy Gilmartin approached club member Angie Brush and asked about joining Bath Quota. They did. And they jumped in with all four feet and haven’t slowed down since!
Barb is married to Gary, who is also a Bath Quotarian, and both ladies are employed at Keuka College in Penn Yan New York. They were instrumental in the success of the 2012 District 17 Conference, which was held at that college.
The fact that they had never attended a Quota district conference before did not hinder them in the least as they volunteered to head the registration and welcome committees, and put together the welcome bags, which were given to each attendee. They happily added their own creative touches to the project.
Barb and Judy were the “go to” people throughout the weekend, coming in early and staying late to make sure everything ran smoothly. Their “we can do that” attitude helped to bring many of the ideas and suggestions offered by the conference committee into reality, which made for a very successful conference.
Beyond that, this pair of sisters has volunteered to help in every project the Bath Club has undertaken in their short two year membership. They have prepared gift baskets, made table decorations, worked at the truck stop fundraiser, helped guide a group of local veterans through a museum tour, baked for bake sales, greeted at the membership tea…their talents and willingness to contribute seem endless! And this year, Judy has stepped into the role of club secretary.
As you can see, Barb and Judy work very well as a team, and for this reason we have decided to honor them as such. Their cheerful attitudes and quiet enthusiasm are an inspiration to our members, and it is with great pride and pleasure that Quota International of Bath has selected Barb Loucks and Judy Gilmartin as this year’s co-volunteers of the year.
