Quota International of Coffs Harbour Inc, New South Wales, Australia
Nora Brooks has been an active member of Quota for 5 years – including Presidency of Inverell Club and currently First Vice President of Quota International of Coffs Harbour Inc.
Early on she discovered how much she enjoyed the challenge of working in a service organisation and repearing the rewards of helping people. The learning curve of being a Quotarian continues, resulting in her ability to initiate new projects and then work tirelessly towards a successful outcome.
Nora’s enthusiasm and energy is boundless – always has a smile for everyone and she emanates great organisational and people skills in approaching any problem in a calm and productive way.
Her philosophy is that the more you give the happier you can be in your own life.
25 years of volunteering includes – School Mother’s Club and Canteen for 23 years, Classroom Assistant, Salvation Army Youth Leader, Meals on Wheels, Catering for large parties, Local Show Society, Sports Instructor and recently involvement with Lions with her husband since 1988. She and Ken have been married 25 years and their family includes 2 daughters, 3 granddaughters and 3 grandsons.
Whilst at Inverell, Nora was heavily involved in creating a Memory Garden at the cemetery which was officially opened on the day she was inducted into Quota.
Projects Nora has been instrumental in organising – International Night, Baby Photo Show and assisting in coordination of Christmas Wrapping and Christmas Adopt a Family. She is always willing to give that extra club time and is a very dedicated Quotarian. In May 2012 she was voted by her peers for valuable contribution to the club and received the Lesley Lawrance Brooch, in memory of our much loved departed member.
Quota International of Coffs Harbour Inc. has great pleasure in nominating Nora Brooks as Volunteer of the Year for 2013
