Marlys joined Quota in 2006. She has served as Vice President, Secretary and Board Member @ large. She has chaired the Membership Committee for 2 years and the Ways & Means Committee for 1 year. Marlys coordinated the Fry Bread fundraiser during the Folkfest celebration. She knits scarves for the My Pink Scarf Project and sews pillows in preparation for the stuffing parties. Both the scarfs and pillows are given to breast cancer patients in the area.

Marlys began her volunteer and service while in high school playing organ and teaching Bible School in church. She is an active member of Faith Lutheran Church and has served as teacher, supervisor and accompanist for the church school programs. She has been in the church choir for 25 years and played in the hand bell choir for 15 years. She has served on the church council as Director of Worship and Music Board as well as the secretary to the council president.

She raised two daughters that were involved in Girl Scouts. Marlys was a Girl Scout troop leader for both of her daughters\’ troops. She was a camp director and served on the Girl Scout Board of Directors. She has also been involved in parent groups, PTA, as a room mother in the classroom and served on the parent advisory group for the Jr. and Sr. high schools in Bismarck.

Marlys works as a Safety Specialist at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck. In her work, she is active in the United Way Steering Committee.

She is married to John and they have two married daughters and is a proud Nana Marly to two grandsons, Devin and Aiden.

Marlys will be the Chairperson for the District 22 Conference being held in Bismarck in 2014. Because of her accomplishments, we are so proud to nominate her as Volunteer of the Year for 2013!
