Quota International of Batemans Bay, New South Wales, Australia
Maralyn has been an active member of Quota International of Batemans Bay for 24 years having joined in December 1988. She has been Club President twice (1994-1996 and 1998-1999) and is the only President to have undertaken this leadership role more than once. In the period between those two terms (1996-1997) she was District Treasurer/Secretary while Daphne Cohen was District Governor. As many will remember nothing was too much trouble for her in this job.
“Nothing is too much trouble” describes Maralyn very well. She gives her time and energy generously whether in service hours or in fundraising. She has organized or been actively involved in Lamington Drives, the annual Book Fair, Christmas and Mothers’ Day luncheons for our senior citizens, helping the Hospital Auxiliary, a School Breakfast
program at one of our local primary schools, and in the years that Quota ran an Antique Fair she was chief scone maker. Working alongside Maralyn there is no doubt that she believes that there should be “fun” in fundraising.
Maralyn’s home has been the venue for many successful social evenings, for members, partners and friends of Quota members. Maralyn’s family are also very generous in helping with these social events and it’s not unusual for her grandsons to be seen helping in various capacities. The family garage is often taken over either as a lamington making factory or second-hand book sorting warehouse.
Maralyn is active in other capacities in the community and is a testament to the ideals and values of Quota.
